ACCOMMODATION IN THE CZECH COUNTRYSIDE
SOUTH BOHEMIA
Without doubt one of the most interesting towns in South Bohemia, Cesky Krumlov is a medieval fortress town built in the tight S-bend of the River Vlatva which was used throughout the ages for it's defence. The cobble-stone narrow streets are overshadowed by the imposing castle and it's fortifications towering above the town. This region also has many interesting country mansions such as Cervena Lhota, the Kratochvile Summer Palace and, particularly, Hluboka, called the "South Bohemia Windsor Castle" because of it's similarity of style. There are many picturesque villages with a special style of architecture called Peasant Baroque.
| Trebon Originally a Spa town, recorded in the UNESCO list of protected historical national monuments. HOTEL ZLATA HVEZDA - Ref S11 Constructed from a Renaissance building, located right in the historical heart of Trebon. Rooms have private facilities, direct-dial telephone and satellite TV. The restaurant offers a wide choice of cuisine and there is a beer cellar and wine room with occasional live music. Spa treatments and various sports are available nearby. |

| Lake Lipno For nature lovers, there are two mountain ranges in South Bohemia: the Novohradska, which is as yet little frequented by tourists, and the Sumava range, which is the largest protected natural park in the Czech Republic, covering 1370 kilometres and including the Lipno Dam. The Sumava region also offers many facilities for water sports, not least the busy centre at Churanov, near Vimperk. Sumava is ideal for the walking enthusiast with many signposted footpaths through some of the least exploited countryside in Europe. HOTEL FONTANA - Ref S12 A modern recreational hotel on the shore of Lake Lipno. All rooms have private facilities and there are 2 bars, one for during the day and one for the evening/night. There is an indoor swimming pool, sauna, fitness centre and solarium. Yachting, windsurfing and fishing are also available locally. |
